If you have achieved your first artistic successes in the field of dance on the basis of proven professional work, you can apply for a scholarship.

Description

The City of Munich awards annual scholarships in the field of dance totalling a maximum of 8,000 euros for further artistic training or the development of a new artistic concept. The theatre scholarship is intended to promote further artistic training or the development of a new artistic concept.

In principle, applications can be submitted in the previous year until 1 June.

Applications for the year 2025 can be submitted until 3 June 2024, 11.59 p.m., as the deadline of 1 June 2024 falls on a Saturday.

Prerequisites

artists and groups in the fields of dance and theatre who are resident in the Munich region are eligible to apply. The scholarships are project-related work and further education scholarships that are intended to support both younger and established artists. There is no age limit.

The measure must always be realised in the year for which it was applied for and is concluded with a report to the Department of Culture.

Required documents

  • Project description / concept (maximum 4 A4 pages) with a working title
  • Short biographies of the applicant or the artistic team

Optionally, a calculation can be attached to the project description.

Legal basis

The applications submitted are reviewed by the jury of independent theatre and dance professionals. The award recommendations are based on the principles and guidelines for the promotion of contemporary performing arts. The City Council is expected to decide on the awarding of the dance and theatre scholarships in autumn 2024 based on the jury's recommendation.
