Munich thanks! Pupils

Award from the City of Munich for students who volunteer at school

Description

The award consists of a certificate and a voucher booklet. Teachers and school administrators can apply for the award at the Department of Education and Sport. All pupils awarded with the certificate are invited to the Mayor's annual reception.

Once the school management/teacher has submitted the completed application form to the Department of Education and Sport, the next steps are as follows:

  1. The Department of Education and Sport checks the application and issues the certificate.
  2. The school receives the certificate and the voucher booklet by post together with the confirmation of receipt.
  3. The certificate and voucher booklet are awarded to the pupils by the school. It is recommended that they are honoured in an appropriate setting in order to emphasise the value of the certified achievement.
  4. After the certificate and voucher booklet have been awarded, the school sends the confirmation of receipt signed by the pupil (or parents) to the Department of Education and Sport.
  5. All pupils awarded the certificate are invited to the Mayor's annual reception. Invitations are sent to the school. A prerequisite for the invitation is that the school has sent the pupil's confirmation of receipt to the Department of Education and Sport.

Please submit applications for awards that are to take place at the end of the school year by 17 May 2024 at the latest.

Due to staffing restrictions, applications received after this date cannot be processed until further notice.

Questions & Answers

With this award, the City of Munich would like to thank students for their commitment in the school context! There are many areas in which you can get involved:

  • Working groups and study groups (led by pupils themselves)
  • Homework supervision
  • Class representatives, year group representatives and student representatives
  • Tutors
  • Mediators
  • Pupil co-responsibility

and much more

All volunteers who are active in Munich can be nominated for the "Munich thanks!" certificate (including, for example, children and young people who are involved in an association). However, the criteria and award are somewhat more restrictive than for schoolchildren.

  • The certificate is a certificate of civic engagement signed by the Lord Mayor. The certificate comprises a total of two pages and can be attached to application documents, for example.
  • The voucher booklet contains vouchers for visiting various Munich facilities and leisure activities, for example Hellabrunn Zoo, the Olympic Tower, the Lenbachhaus or the municipal swimming pools. The vouchers are transferable.
  • The invitation to the Munich thanks! Reception organised by the Lord Mayor
  • The festive reception takes place once a year for all students who have been awarded a certificate.
