If you run an art gallery or an off-space that promotes up-and-coming artists in Munich, you can apply for an award.
Description
The City of Munich awards six biennial prizes of 7,500 euros each for galleries and off-spaces. This honour is intended to highlight the basic attitude of the award winners towards Munich as an art location and their role model function for the perception of Munich as a city of art.
The next call for tenders will take place in 2025.
Prerequisites
The following can apply:
Galleries,
- that operate a commercial art trade in Munich (i.e. changing exhibitions in their own gallery spaces, open to the public without restrictions and effective publicity measures to promote the visibility of the permanently represented artists),
- whose focus is on the primary market with contemporary art and
- are the first gallery for Munich artists.
Off-Spaces,
- that show predominantly non-commercial exhibitions in Munich (i.e. changing exhibitions, open to the public without restrictions and publicity measures to promote the artists shown in the exhibitions),
- whose focus is on contemporary art and
- which also show Munich artists.
Required documents
- a short profile of the gallery or off-space,
- an overview of the exhibitions and (digital) activities of the last two years
- an overview of the Munich artists represented/shown,
summarised in a PDF file (maximum 4 MB) exclusively to
galerien_off-spaces@muenchen.de
Applications received after the application deadline cannot be considered.
