The Advisory Service for Recognition of Foreign Qualifications can counsel you by phone, e-mail, in person and online.

How to get advice

  1. Please register online for the recognition consultation: Registration for counselling on professional recognition
  2. You will receive an e-mail confirming that your registration has arrived.
  3. The Advisory Service will contact you. Please note that there might be longer waiting periods.

The Advisory Service for Recognition of Foreign Qualifications provides counselling on professional recognition. We are not a recognition authority. The service is available for citizens who live in the Munich area.

Requirements

  • Completed foreign professional qualification (studies or training).
  • Residence in Munich and in the districts of Munich, Ebersberg, Erding, Freising, Dachau, Fürstenfeldbruck and Starnberg.

Required documents

  • Diploma of your qualification
  • List of subjects and grades of your qualification
  • If you have worked in your profession:
    ask for job references. These should state your detailed tasks, your working hours per week and all the responsibilities you fulfilled.

 

German language skills

  • In pedagogical professions you need at least German language skills of a B2 level.

  • In medical professions, you need at least German language skills of a B2 level.

  • We also recommend a good knowledge of German for all other professions.

Financing the costs of professional recognition

  1. If you are registered with the Arbeitsagentur or the Jobcenter:
    Please ask for the cost coverage.
  2. If you do not receive money from Arbeitsagentur or the Jobcenter:
    Find out about funding through the recognition grant.
